The President unveils a photo of Actor Prosenjit as Netaji

"Sidharth Shukla was just Amazing"-Shehnaaz Gill appreciate for his appearance in BB14

On January 23, 2021, The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, unveiled a portrait of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The unveiling was to mark the beginning of a year-long celebrations to commemorate 125th Birth Anniversary Year of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

The President’s official Twitter handle also posted images from the function of the unveiling of the portrait.

However, there were soon claims that the portrait unveiled by the President was not of the real Subhas Chandra Bose, but of actor Prosenjit Chatterjee who played Netaji in a Bengali film that dealt with his mysterious death. The bengali film was titled ‘Gumnaami’ and was directed by Srijit Mukherjee.\
As soon as people noticed this mistake made by the party, they took to social media to share their views. Many made fun of the mistake, and made memes, while some straight up expressed their disappointment at such a huge mistake.
“Prosnjit Chatterji will go down in history as the only actor whose portrait was unveiled by the President of India. It’s another matter that the President of India was thinking, that’s Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose”, wrote one user on Twitter.
Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra tweeted a message saying, “God Save India (because this government certainly can’t)” in reaction to the incident.

The President of India’s official Twitter handle is yet to react to this mix-up.
