The four members of boy band 5SOS (short for 5 Seconds Of Summer), Luke Hemmings, Ashto Irwin, Michael Clifford and Calum Hood, went live on Instagram on 12 March, Friday and announced that they will soon be releasing their fifth studio album soon!
Last night, their official account had posted on social media that they will be trying something “new” on Friday, and asked the fans to join their space conversation on Twitter.
“Trying out something new tomorrow! Join us here on our Twitter account for a Spaces conversation. Hear us chat s*** in real time starting at 11pm PT”, they wrote.
“I’m nervous for this”, Ashton replied to the tweet, whereas Calum wrote “Tf do we talk about”
However, fans in large numbers joined their SpaceConversation, which in turn led to them “breaking” it. Fans recommended them to go and create a live Instagram stream, which is what they had to fo to finally give the announcement about their new album.
Fans have been waiting for them to release another project, and are extremely hyped now that they are getting some new content. They took to twitter to show their excitement and support!
5SOS so far have four studio albums, their last album titled Calm, which was released in 2020.
5 Seconds Of Summer was formed in late 2011. At first it consisted of members Luke Hemmings, Calum Hood and Michael Clifford, who all attended the same high school and gained popularity by posting their covers of other songs on YouTube. They were later joined by their current drummer, Ashton Irwin. Their first album was released in 2014, and immediately gathered a large fan following.
Since 2014, 5SOS have sold more than 10 million albums, sold over 2 million concert tickets worldwide, and the band’s songs streams surpass 7 billion, which makes them one of the most successful Australian musical artists in history.
