HBO has finally released the teaser-trailer for Game of Throne’s prequel series, House of the Dragon, and the teaser provides us a glimpse of its main cast – Paddy Considine as King Viserys Targaryen, Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen, Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon, and Sonoya Mizuno as Prince Daemon’s ally Mysaria
The finale of the legendary TV Show, aka, Game of Thrones, was a massive let down for its fans, and they went as far as creating petitions for the writers to re-write the finale. Despite the music, cinematography and various other aspects of the final season being top-tier, the storyline did take a huge downfall. Fans argued that the finale left many plot-holes in the story, and the final execution of such a legendary and loved TV show was extremely disappointing.
Due to this disappointment, naturally, many fans are skeptical about watching the upcoming prequel. While some of them are super excited to be able to give a new meaning to the show, many just want a proper finale for the original series. Of course, since the latter is not possible, we will just have to wait and see how the prequel of the show serves us.
So far, the teaser-trailer of the show does look promising, and has once again awakened the excitement in the once-GoT fans.
About House of the Dragon
The series is based on author George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire book series and its companion materials and is set primarily in Westeros during a time of great political upheaval.
“House of the Dragon has been in development for several years (though the title has changed a couple of times during that process),” Martin wrote on his blog in response to news of the series pickup announced in 2019. “It was actually the first concept I pitched to HBO when we started talking about a successor show, way back in the summer of 2016.”
House of the Dragon, will take us 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones took place, and will be exploring that history of the brutal Targaryen civil war that tore the realm apart. We will be introduced to a whole new set of characters, many of them Targaryens.
There’s Rhaenyra Targaryen and Aegon II Targaryen, half-siblings who fight for the Iron Throne. There’s the unpredictable Daemon Targaryen, who fights his nephew Aemond Targaryen on dragonback in one of the war’s most exciting episodes. There’s Rhaenys Targaryen, who the smallfolk called the Queen Who Never Was, and so on.
Despite being let down with the GoT finale, fans are still super hyped for this prequel, as it is going t be giving us a lot of background story on the Targaryens. Here are some twitter reacts by the fans!
