THE NIGHT CIRCUS by Erin Morgenstern

It’s a hard book to summarize because there’s so much going on and the book is as magical as it is overwhelming, but basically, the story begins with two ancient magicians letting their egos bet their pupils against one another in a magical contest. Its venue? A mysterious circus that only appears at night. The only problem: the contestants don’t really know the rules, or how victory is determined.
All the characters were multifaceted and morally ambiguous, giving you the impression of them being whole people but in a wispy shape as if you can never actually make out how they look like or what they have inside of them. This book, with its impossible magic acts and the steady run towards the end of the bet, has bewitched its readers.

HEARTLESS by Marissa Meyer

A spin-off of the original tale of Alice In Wonderland, revealing how the cruel Red Queen became the villain she is today. “Before she was the terror of Wonderland, she was just a girl who wanted to give herself up for love.“
one of the rare books to start off so well with immense amounts of baking and the promise of the bizarre and creative nonsense that every Wonderland retelling should hold. The story propels itself forward on feelings of anger and frustration, and of course, forbidden love. The sweet little baker falls for the court jester and from there starts the inevitable path to destruction.
It’s like a dark fairytale except with no happy ending.

IT ENDS WITH US by Colleen Hoover

It Ends With Us is one of the rawest, honest, inspiring, and profoundly beautiful books I’ve ever read. The book shows how everything you thought you knew and felt about a person can change in just fifteen seconds. It tells you how fate sometimes wrecks us and also takes us right where we need to be. The story jumps from past to present as it tells the story of the three main characters- Lily, Ryle, and Atlas- as they learn how to live with the worst choices we make as people, and who to walk away from people that you love when they hurt you.

SHATTER ME by Tahereh Mafi

Juliette hasn’t touched anyone in exactly 264 days and the last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. Set in a future dystopian world where the earth is dying and diseases and radiations have led to people getting the weirdest powers, the story is one roller coaster after another. It is as painful as it is thrilling, and deserves the hype it got.
The main character has a deadly touch, and everyone she touches feels unbearable pain and sometimes even dies. So how long is she going to hide from herself and the world?
Sounds like a dystopian romance book, but the series has so many twists and shocks that you’ll be obsessed with finishing them all in one sitting.
TMI but it’s hard not to fall In love with villains after reading this book.
