Lizzy from the K-pop girl group “After School” is sentenced to one year in prison after her DUI charges. The singer was drunk driving back in May when her car hit a taxi. Read on to know more about the case.
AFTER SCHOOL’S LIZZY SENTENCED TO PRISON
Back on May 18, Lizzy crashed into a taxi and her car while walking at the intersection south of Youngdong-bridge in Gangnam-gu. Although no serious injuries were involved, Lizzy’s blood alcohol levels (0.197%) were high enough for her license to be revoked. Ahead of the first DUI trial on September 14, she burst into tears as she apologised for causing a DUI accident during her live Instagram.
On the morning of September 27th KST, her first DUI case took place in Seoul Central Regional Court. Lizzy confessed and apologized while prosecutors pleaded guilty to one year in prison.

In her closing statement, Lizzy said, “I apologize to the taxi driver and to the general public who may have been the victim of my hasty decision. “Going forward, including myself. I was scared but coming here to the court was very scary.” Meanwhile, she was charged with felony criminal misconduct under the ‘Additional Penalties Act’ and a violation of the ‘Road Traffic Act’ and her DUI.

Prosecutors, on the other hand, have demanded that the star be sentenced to one year in prison.
