BTS speaks out against Anti-Asian Racism : ‘We feel anger and grief’

Stop Asian Hate: BTS recently spoke out against Anti-Asian Racism that’s been getting progressively worse ever since the pandemic hit the world.

This surge is not only horrific but also shameful for all of humanity, and its turned worse with latest in this series of events are the reported shootings of Asian American women in Atlanta.

BTS SPEAK OUT AGAINST ANTI ASIAN RACISM

BTS have spoken up with a strong statement condemning violence and hate crimes towards the Asian American and Pacific Islanders community as well as racism levied against Asians in general.

In the official statement in English, the group expressed that they feel anger and grief for the latest turn of events. They posted their note in both Korean and English so people would understand. Following this primary and strong stance, the group also mentioned how they also faced a lot of discrimination and still do even though they are essentially the top artist of 2020 and maybe even 2021. They recalled when they were mistreated for their looks or their accents or even just because they were from an Asian country.

Like always, they didn’t dwell on the bad aspect and continued on to address the critical issue and offer support in every way they can.  As proud Asians themselves, they carefully but clearly shared that it is high time Asians take up the reins and deliver their message clearly. However, the core intent is to stand against racial discrimination, hate and violence. Ultimately, all individuals deserve to be respected.

We recall moments when we faced discrimination as Asians: BTS

“We send our deepest condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. We feel grief and anger,” the statement began. “We recall moments when we faced discrimination as Asians,” it continued. “We have endured expletives without reason and were mocked for the way we look. We were even asked why we spoke in English.”

Concluding their statement, the seven member South Korean boy band added, “What our voice must convey is clear. We stand against racial discrimination. We condemn violence. You, and I we all have the right to be respected. We will stand together.”

This is not the first time the members of BTS spoke out against racism

In addition to incorporating social and mental issues into their music, the members of BTS frequently use their platform to speak out against issues that are important to them. The band launched the anti-violence campaign LOVE MYSELF with UNICEF in 2017.

BTS donated $1 million to wake Black Lives Matter protests against police brutality

In 2020, the members of BTS donated $1 million to Black Lives Matter in the wake of protests against racism and police brutality. The band also released a statement supporting the Black Lives Matter movement. In response, their fanbase ARMY also donated $1 million dollars to the cause.
