WATCH: BTS Drops New English Single ‘Butter’, Breaks record for biggest MV premiere on YouTube by surpassing 10 million views in 13 minutes

bts breaks records again

BTS has made their first major comeback since the release of BE, with their new single, Butter. Butter is BTS’ second English track, single after the pop-disco smash hit, Dynamite which now stands at more than one billion views on Youtube.

Butter premiered at 9:30 am IST and has already clocked 58 million views since its release, with the first 13 minutes clocking a staggering 10 million views! With this, BTS breaks the record for the biggest music video premiere on YouTube and as RM says in Butter, ‘Got ARMY right behind us’, the fandom stands strong and in full force as they aim to break Dynamite‘s 24-hour record with Butter. Dynamite clocked 101.1 million views in 24 hours, and with Butter, ARMY plan to double the views in record time.

ARMY have taken over Twitter with ‘HIS HAIR’, ‘GOT ARMY’, ‘BTS vs BTS’, ‘What Yoongi’ and ‘BTS Butter’ trending at the top. BTS will take centre stage at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards on May 23rd at 5.30 AM IST.

One Twitter user wrote, “can we all agree that BUTTER = SONG OF THE YEAR.” Another user wrote, “I was going through a difficult time, but today when I heard the song Butter. I felt happy and smiled really when I saw your faces and felt happy, thank you guys, you are always in my heart and beside me.”

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Butter was called “a pure, swaggering dance-pop celebration in the retro vein of Bruno Mars, with layers of Jam and Lewis-style synths.” The group’s leader RM said it was “very energetic and very summery,” with a “dynamic performance.”

BTS released Dynamite as a single, followed by their eighth studio album BE in 2020. The album had impressions of loneliness and tragedy induced by the pandemic but also carried an optimistic tone with tracks like “Life Goes On.”

For Dynamite, BTS received its first Grammy nomination in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category. The band lost out on the award but their virtual performance at the ceremony was highly praised.

BTS is a seven-member South Korean band that includes RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook.
