CL Becomes First Korean Female Solo Artist To Star In American TV Commercial: Watch

CL has become the first Korean female soloist to appear in an American commercial, starring numerous celebrities in Taco Bell‘s newest commercial.

The one-minute commercial for the fast-food restaurant features famous celebrities such as actor Noah Centineo, TikTok star Nava Rose, drag queen Onyx Black, professional BMXer Brad Simms, and more.

In the commercial, CL appears as herself, depicted as a glamorous artist in a luxurious fur coat. After wrapping up her concert, she’s escorted outside by her bodyguards. Two female fans holding pictures of CL scream after she talks to them.

CL featured in the commercial as a celebrity artist leaving an event, and shared her love of Mountain Dew‘s Baja Blast with her fans driving past her.

CL’s agency shared, “As K-pop became more popular, there were many singers who starred in global commercials centering in Asia. However, CL is the first to star in an American TV commercial.”

CL made her debut as a member of YG Entertainment’s girl band 2NE1 in 2009. She was just 15 years old at the time of her debut. In 2013, she made her solo debut with the song The Baddest Female. She became the first female Korean solo artist to secure a place in Billboard Hot 100 with her song Lifted in 2016. She is now getting ready for the release of her upcoming album ALPHA.

Listen to her latest song “5 Star”.
