On Monday, Marvel Studios released the first teaser-trailer for their upcoming movie, Eternals, and fans have been blown away, just by the two-minute teaser.

Eternals Teaser

The teaser gives us a glimpse of the immortal group of heroes, a few action sequences, Angelina Jolie sharpening her sword and skill, an Indian-style wedding, and a dancing sequence featuring Kumail Nanjiani (who plays Kingo).

We also get the first look of the character played by Kit Harington (Game of Thrones). Harington is playing Dane Whitman, a human warrior who wields a mystical sword.

Throughout the teaser, we hear a voiceover of Ajak (Salma Hayek), who is the leader of the Eternals, as she talks about how it’s time for them to intervene, hinting that they will be coming out of their hiding. “Throughout the years we have never interfered, until now”, Ajak says.

The trailer ends with a shot of all the Eternals coming together to fight off an unknown threat.

Cast

Chloe Zhao’s Eternals, features Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Richard Madden (Game of Thrones), Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley), and Gemma Chan (Crazy Rich Asians) in it’s main star cast.

In the movie, Angelina Jolie, who plays the role of Thena, is a fierce warrior Eternal who can form any weapon out of cosmic energy, and in a little clip from the teaser, we see Jolie wielding a magic sword and Hayek on a horse.

Salma Hayek will be playing the role of their leader Ajak who has healing abilities, while Madden is tactical leader Ikaris who can fly and project cosmic energy out of his eyes. Nanjiani is Kingo, who can shoot out cosmic energy from his hands, and Chan is Sersi who can manipulate matter.

Plot

In the comics, the Eternals are creatures who were part of the same process that led to the creation of sentient life on Earth. They spend much of their time flitting between planets, warring among themselves while also occasionally protecting humankind from their nemeses, the monster-like Deviants.

The movie is based on a group of superheroes who made their first appearance in Marvel comics in 1976. Following the events of 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, an unexpected tragedy brings the Eternals out of hiding to reunite against mankind’s most ancient enemy, the Deviants.

Release Date

Eternals is set to release on November 5 in the US, but the India-specific Eternals teaser reveals that the Marvel movie will release in October here. No date has been confirmed for it’s release in India, but it will likely be before November 5.
