The ‘Anonymous’ hacker group are back with their threats, and this time they have targeted multi-billionaire and cryptocurrency influencer, Elon Musk. The group released a video on YouTube, in which they elaborated on how Musk is responsible destroying the lives of cryptocurrency investors with his tweets. They mentioned that his arrogant ways have severely affected Bitcoin and it’s investors, and have issued a warning to the Tesla CEO.
Anonymous threatens Elon Musk
“Reading from the comments on your Twitter posts, it seems that the games you have played with the crypto market have destroyed lives,” Anonymous states in the video, which was released on YouTube. They also pinpointed that Musk makes statements which will just be profitable to his company, with no regard for cryptocurrency in general.
The most recent one, for instance, was the decision by Tesla to stop accepting Bitcoin payments for its electric cars. Anonymous says that it is widely believed that Tesla was forced to denounce this payment option.
The hacktivist group also mentioned how Tesla generates most of its revenue through the green carbon tax credit from the governments of the countries in which it operates. It alleges that the reason the use of Bitcoin was stopped was to maintain this flow of revenue from the government. They also claimed that Musk was already aware of the energy consumption associated with Bitcoin mining before citing it as a reason for not accepting Bitcoin payments for Tesla.
It further mentioned that Musk acted clueless about this in “an attempt to play both sides of the fence” when the supply of green credit money from the government was threatened.
“There are plenty of other companies working on space exploration and electric vehicles, you are just the only CEO who has gained a cult following through sh*tposting and trolling the world on social media,” the hacktivist group said.
Anonymous also criticised Elon Musk for “prematurely” calling himself ‘Emperor of Mars’, saying the Red Planet is a place where the SpaceX founder will be sending people to die.
“Millions of retail investors were really counting on their crypto gains to improve their lives. Of course, they took the risk upon themselves when they invested, and everyone knows to be prepared for volatility in crypto, but your tweets this week show a clear disregard for the average working person,” the figure on the Anonymous video said.
These allegations by Anonymous were not limited to Bitcoin. The hacker group states that the Tesla CEO has enjoyed the “most favourable reputations of anyone in the billionaire class” for the past several years by tapping into the general public’s desire for electric cars and space exploration. This “carefully created public image,” however, is now being exposed.
“Recently… people are beginning to see you as another narcissistic rich dude who is desperate for attention,” the figure added.
Why did Anonymous target Elon Musk?

This warning for the billionaire comes after he posted another meme on Bitcoin, which sent it’s value tumbling down. Musk posted a meme on a popular Linkin Park song with the line “In the end it doesn’t even matter,” with just the caption, ‘Bitcoin,’ followed by a broken heart emoji. Bitcoin’s value dropped as low as 37,660 after the tweet according to Coindesk.
Even last month, Musk received backlash for “playing with people’s money” just for his benefits. This happened after he posted on twitter that his company will no longer be accepting Bitcoin as it’s payment, which sent Bitcoin down to it’s sharpest single-day drop this year. Naturally, this upset many cryptocurrency investors, and they called Musk out.
