‘House of Dragons auditioning process was extensive’ : Olivia Cooke who stars in the Game of Thrones prequel had sworn to secrecy for 6 months

Olivia Cooke is a young, and rising actress who has been previously seen in movies and shows such as Ready Player One and Bates Motel.

She has been getting a lot of attention as of late, after she was casted in films like Sound of Metal and Little Fish and also in the  anticipated prequel of Game of Thrones, titled House of the Dragon.

In an interview with ‘Good Morning America’, Cooke revealed some deets about her process of auditioning for House of the Dragon, the prequel series of legendary TV show Game of Thrones.

“The audition process was extensive. I don’t know how many auditions I did – I did loads. I was on hold for six weeks and sworn to secrecy, and then when I found out I had it, and then I was sworn to more secrecy – before the press release came out. I had my best friends ask me ‘when will you tell us now?’. I was so scared that someone was gonna come and abduct me and make me disappear.”, said Cooke.

When asked about if she was had been a Game of Thrones fan, she replied that she had in fact, just watched one season before auditioning for the role for House of the Dragon.

“When I was twenty, I had seen the first season, but didn’t pick it back up. I didn’t want to do it before auditioning, just in case I got too invested and then didn’t get the job. But since then I’ve seen every episode, and am obsessed”, she said.

House of the Dragon will take us 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones took place, and will be exploring that history of the brutal Targaryen civil war that tore the realm apart. We will be introduced to a whole new set of characters, many of them Targaryens.

Cooke stars as Alicent Hightower, the daughter of Hand of the King Otto Hightower. Alicent is described by HBO as “the most comely woman in the Seven Kingdoms. She was raised in the Red Keep, close to the king and his innermost circle, and possesses both a courtly grace and a keen political acumen.”

Is Olivia Cooke a good choice as an actress in the show?

Judging from Cooke’s previous works in shows and movies, she can definitely be passed off as an incredible, yet underrated actress. She has already started to gain the popularity and recognition that she deserves, and after being starred in some of the top movies and shows this year, she will soon be the name on everyone’s lips. So yes, Olivia Cooke is a good choice for the show.
