“I don’t have any plans to work with James Franco in the future”: Says Seth Rogen says after Franco gets tangled up with sexual misconduct allegations

seth rogen does not plan to work with james franco

Seth Rogen hinted that his personal and professional relationship with actor James Franco has ended following his sexual misconduct scandal. The thirty nine year old actor, speaking with The Sunday Times, distanced himself from his longtime friend and collaborator when asked about the validity of his charges.

The Emmy-nominated writer said it is “not a coincidence” that his professional relationship with James Franco seems to have come to an end, adding the accusations have affected their personal equation as well.

Seth cuts ties with Franco

Actor-writer Seth Rogen has said as someone who “despises” abuse and harassment, he doesn’t plan to work with frequent collaborator James Franco following allegations of sexually inappropriate behaviour against the latter.

Rogen’s remarks come over three years after he said that he would continue to work with Franco, with whom he had collaborated on a string of films like “This Is The End”, “Pineapple Express”, “The Interview” and “Sausage Party”.

What were the allegations of James Franco?

Allegations of sexual misconduct were made against Franco in 2018 when several students at his former acting school accused him of intimidating them into sexual situations. The allegations — which Franco has denied — led to a lawsuit, which was settled in February. In an interview with The Sunday Times, Rogen said, “I also look back to that interview in 2018 where I commented that I would keep working with James, and the truth is that I have not and I do not plan to right now.”

Seth had said in his monologue, “I decided to prank James Franco. I posed as a girl on Instagram, told him I was way young. He seemed unfazed. I have a date to meet him at the Ace Hotel”.

Rogen and Franco go back to the 90s since they co-starred in the 1999 series Freaks and Geeks and including movies such as Pineapple Express, This Is the End and The Disaster Artist

Actress Charlene Yi calls James Franco is a sexual predator

In recent times, actress Charlene Yi took to Instagram to reveal she tried to quit Disaster Artist “because James Franco is a sexual predator, they tried to bribe me with a bigger acting role. I cried and told them that was the exact opposite of what I wanted, that I didn’t feel safe working with a fucking sexual predator.

They minimized & said Franco being a predator was so last yr and that he changed… when I literally heard of him abusing new women that week.” She also said that Seth Rogen, who was the producer, and the enablers should be held accountable.

On April 8, 2021, she wrote, “Seth Rogen was one of the producers on this film so he definitely knows about the bribe and why I quit. Seth also did a sketch on SNL with Franco enabling Franco preying on children. Right after Franco was caught. Franco has a long history of preying on children. This is on top all the corrupt laws that protect predators made by violent white men. Denying/gaslighting is a tactic that abusers and enablers use that is psychological violence, & has serious affects: the survivor loses sense of reality/intuition to protect self from targeted again, PTSD, suicidal thoughts/suicide, etc.

This month is Sexual Assault Awareness Month when it should really be something men educate themselves about their whole life and learn how to be there & protect women, nonbinary, trans, etc—who are targeted. Edit: gaslighting can also lead to self-blame and denial in which the survivor forgets or minimizes the abuse, continuing relationships with abusers, and not being able to see redflags from predators who may target them.”

A lot of celebrities have been outed out this year through social media. Beauty guru James Charles took full responsibility for recent allegations that he exchanged inappropriate, flirty messages online with boys who turned out to be underage. The 21-year-old posted a nearly 15 minute video to YT on April 1 titled Holding Myself Accountable where be explained how he believed the people he was interacting with were 18, but didn’t do the due diligence online to find out their true ages.

“Within the past couple of weeks, two different people under the age of 18 have recently come forward saying they had inappropriate messages from me on social media,” explained. He claimed he added those people on Snapchat, “asked how old they were right away, was told they were 18, believed them, engaged in a flirty conversation and later on found out that they were 16.” James said that, “Upon finding out, I was embarrassed and immediately blocked both people.”
