Kelly Clarkson is channeling her state of mind into some soulful music. The singer and chat show host revealed in a recent appearance that ever since her divorce from estranged husband Brandon Blackstock, she has been writing songs and directing her energy in a positive way. Kelly was on a press junket for The Voice when she made the revelation and stated that it feels great to have such an outlet to pour your heart out.
For the unversed, Kelly and Brandon split after seven years of marriage in June 2020 citing irreconcilable differences. The couple are now figuring out their financial agreements. As for the custody battle over their two children River Rose and Remington Alexander, the matter is in the hands of the court.
In December, the singer opened up about her divorce on her popular daytime talk show, while chatting with Glennon Doyle about her book Untamed. “I’m like, ‘This isn’t happiness, for both of us, you know?” she shared. “I feel both of us deserve better, and neither one of us would want this for our children.”
KELLY CLARKSON ON NEW MUSIC
“I have this record that we’re working on. It’s really great and really honest. There’s just a lot of questions that I have to answer before releasing it for myself, you know? Whether that be business-wise or personally or whatever. Whatever happens though, it is such a gift. Like, I don’t know how anybody, I’ll just be real with you, goes through grief like divorce, any kind of grief, any kind of loss, without having an outlet like this.”
