According to recent reports, GOT7’s Jin Young is considering starring as Kim Go-eun’s second boyfriend in the upcoming second season of the drama Yumi’s Cells.
Yumi’s Cells an upcoming K-Drama
The drama Yumi’s Cells is based on the hit webtoon of the same name, and it revolves around an ordinary office worker named Yumi as told from the perspective of her brain cells that are controlling her thoughts, feelings, and actions.
South Korean actress Kim Go-eun (The King: Eternal Monarch, Guardian: The Lonely and Great God) has already confirmed her lead role in the drama, while actor Ahn Bo-hyun (Itaewon Class) is in the talks to play her romantic lead named Goo Woong.
It has been reported that SHINee’s Minho will also be making a special appearance in the series, making it his second on the small screen after Lovestruck In the City.
“Yumi’s Cells” will be directed by Lee Sang Yeob (Familiar Wife, Shopping King Louis), and co-written by writer Song Jae Jung, writer Kim Yoon Joo, and newcomer Kim Kyung Ran.
Will Jin Young star in Yumi’s Cells?
On April 20, Sports Chosun reported that Jin Young had been cast in the role of Yoo Babi, who is Yumi’s second boyfriend in the drama. According to the report, the singer will act alongside Kim Go Eun in the second season of the drama.
In response to the report, BH Entertainment commented to Newsen, “He is reviewing [the offer for] the drama.”
With the all the members of GOT7 following their solo projects now, and with Jin Young already having tried his hand in acting, there is a high chance that he will be soon confirming his role in this drama.
Jin Young made his acting debut with Dream High 2 in 2012, and has since then starred in many dramas. He has played a lead role in the drama He is Psychometric, and has also starred in dramas like When My Love Blooms and Legends of the Blue Sea. He will also be starring in another upcoming drama in 2021, titled The Devil’s Justice. This truly is Park Jin Young’s year!
