Red Velvet’s Joy to star in new drama

On April 23, SPOTV News reported that the Red Velvet member was cast in the new JTBC drama “Just One Person” (literal title). In response to the report, her agency SM Entertainment commented, “Joy received a casting offer for the new JTBC drama ‘Just One Person’ and is reviewing [the offer].”

The upcoming drama is about a terminally ill woman who decides to kill one bad guy because she’s dying anyway. However, she instead meets just one person who becomes incredibly important to her life. It was previously revealed that Ahn Eun Jin and Park Sung Hoon are also in talks to star in the drama. Joy has received an offer to play Sung Mi Do, a famous influencer who doesn’t have much time left to live. With death close ahead of her successful life, the character experiences various complex emotions. If she accepts the role, this will be Joy’s first drama in three years since “Tempted” in 2018.

“Just One Person” is scheduled to begin filming in August and premiere sometime in the second half of the year. As revealed previously, Ahn Eun Jin and Park Sung Hoon are also in talks to star in the drama.

Red Velvet’s Yeri And PENTAGON’s Hongseok Confirmed For New Web Drama

Red Velvet’s maknae Yeri has confirmed her role in a new web drama opposite Pentagon’s Hongseok.

Titled “Blue Birthday,” the web drama is being produced by Playlist, the company behind hit web dramas like “A-TEEN” and “Love Playlist.” It is described as a fantasy romance drama in which the main character will revisit the past through mysterious photos left by their first love, who died on their birthday 10 years ago. Yeri will play the character Oh Ha Rin, who lost her first love 10 years ago. She had resolved to confess to her male friend, Seo Jun, on her birthday, but he ended up taking his own life, much to her shock and horror. Hongseok will play Ji Seo Jun, Ha Rin’s first love. Even though he looks bright and optimistic on the outside, he has a darkness inside of him that no one can touch. The person who gave him hope was Ha Rin, and he started to develop feelings for her. He was about to confess to her when he met his sudden death in the photography room. Other actors include Lee Sang Joon, who plays Cha Eun Sung, a local news reporter who had a one-sided crush on Ha Rin; Kim Kyul Yoo, who plays Do Soo Jin, Ha Rin’s best friend; and Park Joo Hyun, who plays Kim Eui Young, Do Soo Jin’s devoted boyfriend.

The drama held its first script reading on April 5 with the cast and director Park Dan Hee.

Blue Birthday” is a fantasy romance thriller in which the main character faces past events through mysterious pictures left behind by a friend who took their own life. It will be produced by Playlist, the same company that created “A-TEEN” and the “Love Playlist” series.

Yeri recently hinted at the possibility of pursuing an acting career by taking on the role of Hong Chae Ri, a strict nurse, in tvN’s “Drama Stage 2021-Mint Condition.” Her decision to join the “Blue Birthday” team would expand on her filmography. There is great interest in how Hongseok, who is building his acting career through dramas such as “Best Chicken” and “Phoenix 2020” and web dramas like “On the Campus” and “Anniversary Anyway” will work with Yeri in “Blue Birthday.” “Blue Birthday” is making preparations to start filming with the aim of premiering in the second half of this year.
