Sandara Park of K-pop girl group 2NE1 has officially left her long-time label, YG Entertainment. The agency announced the singer-actress’ departure on May 14 in a press release to South Korean news site Newsen. According to the statement, Park first signed with YG Entertainment in 2004 and eventually debuted with 2NE1 – alongside members CL, Park Bom and Minzy – in 2009.

The girl group later disbanded in late-2016, followed by the release of their final single ‘Goodbye’ in early-2017. Park is also the last member to depart from YG Entertainment, following Minzy and Bom in 2016, and CL in 2019.

On May 14, YG released the following official statement regarding Sandara’s departure

“This is an announcement that YG Entertainment and Sandara Park’s exclusive contract has expired.

We express sincere gratitude to Sandara Park, who has been together with YG with special trust and affection.

YG will always cheer on the challenges that Sandara Park takes on, and we will continuously help her until she completes preparation for her new start. Sandara Park joined YG in 2004, and after debuting with 2NE1 in 2009, she has shown impressive performance not only in music but also in various areas such as acting, fashion, beauty, and as an MC.

We ask for much interest and support from fans so her positive energy can shine even further.

We once again sincerely thank the fans who have loved Sandara Park as an artist of YG until now.”

Earlier this year, Minzy made a guest appearance on KBS Cool FM’s Park Myung Soo’s Radio Show where she opened up about the possibility of a 2NE1 reunion. “Nothing has been proceeded in detail yet. We’re just at the stage of talking about doing something,” she said.

Park started her showbiz career in the Philippines when she joined “Star Circle Quest” in 2004.

The artist left Philippine showbiz in 2007 and shortly signed with YG Entertainment, the group behind 2NE1. The supergroup debuted in 2009. Considered as one of the trailblazers for the K-pop genre, 2NE1 disbanded in 2016.
