Lee do Hyun and Im Soo Jung are confirmed to star in a new TVN drama that is supposed to air somewhere in the second half of 2021. TvN’s new drama “Melancholia” (original title) shared a look behind the scenes in its first script reading. Read on to know more about the upcoming drama.
LEE DO HYUN TO STAR IN “MELANCHOLIA”
The upcoming “Melancholia” drama is about a corrupt private school that shows special treatment for students. Im Soo Jung plays Ji Yoon Soo, a high school maths teacher, and star Lee Do Hyun as Baek Seung Yoo, a lonely high school senior who was a famous mathematician at a young age. In addition to two lead actors Im Soo Jung and Lee Do Hyun, scriptwriter Kim Ji Woon and director Kim Sang Hyuk also attended the first script reading.
Im Soo Jung commented, “It’s an honour to work on a great project with great actors.” During the reading, the actor expressed his love and innocent determination by paying close attention to the details. Ji Yoon Soo, who wants to teach students the joy of learning rather than simply giving them the means to pass college entrance exams, lived a full life while studying.
Lee Do Hyun shared, “In order not to become a disease [in this drama], I will work hard to prepare and try to create a good drama.”
Lee Do Hyun’s Character in “MELANCHOLIA”
Involving himself in his role, Lee Do Hyun has transformed into Baek Seung Yoo, a volunteer who turns out to be an outsider while hiding his past as a missing child figure. Lee Do Hyun’s love for his character was evident as he painted the nakedness of a young man who had lost his way in life. Im Soo Jung and Lee Do Hyun also showed amazing chemistry as they show how their two characters gradually interact with mathematics.
Jin Kyung attracted the set with his powerful presence as he transformed into Noh Jung Ah, an influential figure at the Ahsung Private Educational Institute and head of the school administration at Ahsung High School. Choi Dae Hoon created controversy in the matter as she took on the role of Ryu Sung Jae, Ji Yoon Soo’s fiancée and policy adviser at the Office of Education. He is a gentleman when it comes to love, but he has a strong competitive edge.
The script read was full of enthusiastic imitations from other featured members including Jang Hyun Sung, Byun Jung Soo, Kim Ho Jin, and Woo Davi. “Melancholia” will begin screening sometime in the second half of 2021.
