'I spoke out in support of human rights for Indian farmers', Meena Harris reacts to people burning her pictures for supporting Farmers's Protest
Meena Harris, neice of US Vice-President Kamala Harris, reacts to her picture being burned in Delhi for supporting Farmers’ Protests.

After Rihanna and Greta Thunberg, Kamala Harris’s neice, Meena Harris tweeted her support for the ongoing Farmers’ Protests. She opposed the new farm laws that were passed in September 2020, which led to the violence and clases in the national capital, Delhi. However, some people or misogynists, who are considering it as the international interference into the internal affairs of India, burned her pictures on the streets of Delhi.

Meena Harris’s tweet in opposition of the new farm laws and ongoing protests created rage among some fellow Indians like the one after Rihanna’s and Greta Thunberg’s tweet. Check out the tweet here:

She clearly captioned her tweet as, “It’s no coincidence that the world’s oldest democracy was attacked not even a month ago, and as we speak, the most populous democracy is under assault. This is related. We ALL should be outraged by India’s internet shutdowns and paramilitary violence against farmer protesters.”

However, Harris was ironically ranting against the protestors who had stormed the Capital Hill and had termed those protests as ‘fascism’ that threatened democracy in the United States.

People started considering it as the external affairs which created controversies. Meena, replied to a picture shared by Danish Siddiqui of a mob of angry misogynist holding a portrait of her in their hands and burning it down. She stated, “I spoke out in support of human rights for Indian farmers, and look at the response.”

She tweeted a controversial statement which said, “The most populous democracy is under assault.” However, after all the hatred she received on twitter for tweeting about the farmers’ protests, she still stand with farmers and support their peaceful protests. Check out the tweet here:

She captioned, “I still #StandWithFarmers and support their peaceful protest. No amount of hate, threats or violations of human rights will ever change that. #FarmersProtest“. People are creating unnecessary controversies for the celebrities, outside India, who are supporting Farmers’ Peaceful Protests like burning their portraits, spreading hatred over the internet, abusing and much more.

Not only Meena Harris, pop star Rihanna, ex-porn star Mia Khalifa, and environmental activist Greta Thunberg have also been the victim of this hatred and abuse for supporting farmers’ protests.

Farmers’ Protests: A bunch of farmers have been protesting from many days against the news laws that have been implemented by the government of India. Most of the protestors are from northern Punjab and Haryana states. The farmers’ agitation has been on a spike which also led to violence on Republic Day, 26th of January. There were clashes on the Red Fort on the very momentous day for Indians. Internet services are also suspended in Haryana and near some parts of the border areas.
