Miss Universe Beauty Pageant 2021: Mexico’s Andrea Meza crowned as winner Miss India Adline Castelino is the third runner up. The 69th edition of the Miss Universe pageant, which was held on Sunday night at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood here, was a scaled-down affair in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. According to the official Miss Universe website, 26-year-old Andrea Meza was crowned by her predecessor Zozibini Tunzi of South Africa, who won the pageant in 2019.

Andrea Meza crowned as the 69th Miss Universe
Andrea Meza of Mexico has been crowned Miss Universe for the year 2020, besting contestants from 74 other countries, including Miss India Adline Castelino, who came in fourth at the beauty pageant. While Brazil’s Julia Gama, 28, emerged the runner-up, Janick Maceta (27) from Peru finished third. Castelino, 22, was congratulated by Miss Diva Universe India via its official Twitter page.

Who is Andrea Meza, The Miss Universe 2021?
According to her contestant profile on the Miss Universe website, Andrea has a degree in software engineering. She hails from Chihuahua, a city in Mexico, and she grew up in a large family. Andrea is also the official Tourism Brand Ambassador for Chihuahua, promoting the best tourist attractions and rich culture. She is also an activist focused on women’s rights and inclusion and currently works closely with the Municipal Institute for Women, which aims to end gender violence.
The Miss Universe 2020 is a certified make-up artist and model. She practices CrossFit and extreme sports, such as rappel and sand-boarding. Additionally, the website mentioned that she turned vegan because she was concerned for the well-being of the world and animals.
During the final statement round, Andrea was asked about the changing beauty standards. To which she replied,
“We live in a society that more and more is more than advanced, and as we advance as a society, we’ve also advanced with stereotypes. Nowadays, beauty isn’t only the way we look. For me, beauty radiates not only in our spirit, but in our hearts and the way that we conduct ourselves. Never permit anyone to tell you that you’re not valuable.”
Andrea was crowned Miss Universe 2020 by the former Miss Universe, Zozibini Tunzi of South Africa.
