After the success of Mnet’s Kingdom, the network has come up with another survival show called Mnet Girls Planet 999 and the mentors for the same will be two very experienced artists of the Kpop industry. The mentors are none other than second generation pop stars Tiffany Young from Girls Generation and Sunmi who is a solo artist. The duo will be collectively given the name of ‘K-pop Masters’ while on the show, guiding the participants and trainees. Mnet released first concept photo teasers for Sunmi and Tiffany. The duo amassed a huge amount of success in a group and as a solo artist and have a combined experience of 29 years in the Kpop industry.
Tiffany Young made her debut with Girls Generation, one of the highest selling kpop artists, she left SM Entertainment to focus on her solo career in 2017 and has come up with a few mini albums like ‘lips on lips’.
Sunmi debuted with the group Wonder Girls in 2007 but left in 2010 to focus on her academic front and after a three year hiatus she came back stronger as a solo artist and still worked with the group. Wonder girls disbanded in 2017 and Sunmi left JYP Entertainment and joined Abyss which is also home to BamBam from GOT7.
MNET GIRLS PLANET TO HAVE 99 PARTICIPANTS
Mnet’s Girls Planet 999 will have a total of 33 contestants each from Korea, Japan and China who are trainees, participating to make a debut as an idol. These girls from three different countries were shortlisted from 13000 applicants and choosing between them will not be an easy task. But that’s what judges and mentor are for, right? CLC member Yujin has reportedly auditioned for the survival show. “From each different world, with the goal of becoming a K-Pop idol, Korean, Japanese and Chinese, 99 girls gathered,” Introduced by the MC.
The MC for this new survival show will be Yeo Jin Goo who is famous for his lead role in “hotel del luna” opposite kpop queen IU. He was last seen in ‘Beyond evil’.
