What will happen once the Queen dies? Operation London Bridge

At 92 years old, she is the longest-reigning British monarch, having taken the throne at the young age of 25 in 1952.

She has been the Queen for so long, that it’s hard to see that one day she won’t be the Queen. However, the day is inevitable, and there are careful plans for Elizabeth’s passing to assure the situation is handled gracefully, respectfully, and full of the tradition, pomp, and ceremony the Queen deserves. This plan is called “London Bridge.”

The plan has been in place in one form or another since the 1960s and is regularly updated. It includes contingencies for the various locations she might be, including abroad, in Scotland or in London.

It will be the Prime Minister who learns first and then a well oiled machine will start 10 days of mourning leading up to the biggest state funeral the world has ever seen.
