Peaky Blinder’s Sixth and Final season confirmed

Peaky Blinders

We’ll be seeing the last of the Shelby family this season, and fans are emotional.

It has been confirmed by creator Steven Knight that BBC’s critically acclaimed show, ‘Peaky Blinders’ will be concluding after the upcoming sixth season, which has begun filming now. He has however, also promised a possible spin-off of the show. The writer promised that the story will “continue in another form”.

“The story will continue in another form”

Steven told the Variety that Peaky will be back and with a bang. He said, “After the enforced production delay due to the Covid pandemic, we find the family in extreme jeopardy and the stakes have never been higher. We believe this will be the best series of all and are sure that our amazing fans will love it. While the TV series will be coming to an end, the story will continue in another form.”

Peaky Blinders

Fans were left disappointed when the sixth season of Peaky Blinders was delayed due to the pandemic last year.

The series follows the life of Tommy Shelby who leads the peaky blinders, a gang based in post-First World War Birmingham and rises to prominence and power. The show was first aired on BBC in 2013, and quickly became one of the channel’s most popular shows. It gained even more global recognition after being released on Netflix.

Throughout its run, the drama has won many awards including NTAs as voted for by the public, BAFTA Craft Awards and a BAFTA for best drama series in 2018.

The sixth series of Peaky Blinders is written by Steven Knight, directed by Anthony Byrne and will be produced by Nick Goding. Executive producers are Caryn Mandabach, Steven Knight, Jamie Glazebrook, David Mason, Anthony Byrne and Cillian Murphy.

“Along with our wonderful, supportive, partners at BBC and Netflix, we have been working diligently to ensure we can get Peaky safely back into production; the safety of our cast and crew is always our priority.” said Caryn Mandabach “Thank you to all the Peaky fans who have been so unwaveringly supportive and patient. Steve’s scripts are incredible and mark the end of an epic story that has entranced audiences since it first started in 2013, but the world of Peaky Blinders will most definitely live on.”
