Jo Hyun-tak’s K-Drama Snowdrop, starring popular Blackpink member Jisoo and Jung Hae-in, takes us back several years to the year 1987 when South Korea was in the midst of political turmoil and people were protesting against their sovereignty and demanding democracy. It started by giving us a glimpse into the lives of Hosu University hostel students, their hard time getting home, the consistent rules of the bedrooms, and humorous jokes among the girls living in the hostel. WHAT IS SNOWDROP ABOUT?
Originally titled ‘Seolganghwa,’ ‘Snowdrop’ is a South Korean series that sheds light on an unusual love story. Organized just before the 1987 presidential election, the show revolves around university student Eun Yeong-ro and spy Lim Soo-ho. Amid the big protests, Lim Soo-ho one finds himself covered in blood in her bedroom. So, Yeong-ro hides Soo-ho from the authorities and the nurses come back to life. The two are slowly falling in love.
SNOWDROP EPISODE 4 RECAP
Episode 4 of the K-Drama opens as Soo-ho returns to Yeong-ro and hands him his dove necklace. At a side shop, Seol-hui notices that Gwang-tae has called the ANSP and runs downstairs to warn Yeong-ro. Both the girls hurry and ask Soo-ho to leave and pretend to be clueless when Gang-mu appears.
Gang-mu returns Gwang-tae to ANSP headquarters for investigation, with no hope as Gwang-tae’s call arrives at the same time agents were searching for Mount Ogong (near the border) to find a dead drop used by North Korean spies. Though he is physically beaten to reveal the whereabouts about Soo-ho, Gwang-tae does not give away any information as he is determined to win Seol-hui over after making the mistake of snitching on Soo-ho.
Soo-ho goes to the Taeguk Hardware Store – formerly his spy station – and learns about Geum-Cheol’s suicide. Comrade Joo looks at Soo-ho with suspicion and we go back to Soo-ryeon ordering Comrade Joo to kill Soo-ho if he feels that Soo-ho’s loyalty for the party is faltering.
