Snowdrop has been in the headlines ever since news of Blackpink’s Jisoo’s debut came out. The Korean drama takes us back several years to the year 1987 when South Korea was in the midst of political turmoil and people were protesting against their sovereignty and demanding democracy. It started by giving us a glimpse into the lives of Hosu University hostel students, their hard time getting home, the consistent rules of the bedrooms, and humorous jokes among the girls living in the hostel. WHAT IS SNOWDROP ABOUT?
Originally titled ‘Seolganghwa,’ ‘Snowdrop’ is a South Korean series that sheds light on an unusual love story. Organized just before the 1987 presidential election, the show revolves around university student Eun Yeong-ro and North Korean spy Lim Soo-ho. Amid the big protests, one Lim Soo-ho finds himself covered in blood in Young Ro’s room. So, Yeong-ro hides Soo-ho from the authorities and the nurses him until he recovers. The two are seen slowly falling in love.
SNOWDROP EPISODE 5 RECAP
Episode 5 of the show exposes two North Korean spies during Ha-na’s investigation. Soo-ho receives Yeong-ro’s letters about missing him, and decides to visit her at the university one last time. However, things take a turn for the worst, because the spies get ambushed by the South Korean police, and Soo-ho has no choice but to hold the students hostage in order to survive. He goes even as far as pointing a gun at Yeong-ro’s head.
Comrade Joo was shot in the arm as the sleeping area became collateral. ANSP certificates exploded armed with riot gear and formed a line of defense on their side of the road – on the side near the door.
As the bullets dwindle, Soo-ho shoots a rope that lifts the chandelier above the agents to break their line. He then attaches the bombs and drags Yeong-ro out of the area where ANSP agents could see them. Soo-ho pulls out a pin from an extra bomb in his hand, holding the striker’s pin. Raising it as a threat, he orders the agents to withdraw.
