Hwang Dong Hyuk Talks about being the Director Of Squid Game
Even though Netflix has not announced a second season yet, Squid Game’s director Hwang Dong Hyuk has announced that the show will be making a comeback with season two, he said, “I almost feel like you have left us no choice”.
“There was a lot of pressure, so much need and so much love for the second season,” he said at the program’s red carpet event on November 8.
“It’s in my head right now. I’m in the planning process right now. But I think it’s too early to say when and how that will happen. So I promise you this, Gi-hun will come back and do something for the world, ”Hwang explained.
Squid Game Beats Game Of Thrones
Netflix’s South Korean sensation ‘Squid Game’ surpassed HBO’s blockbuster ‘Game of Thrones’ on YouTube, attracting an estimated 17 billion views in a series of long and short form videos, according to content statistics.
The ‘Game of Thrones’, which has been gathering its fans for a decade unlike the eight-week ‘squid game’, has attracted 16.9 billion views in 420,000 uploaded videos, as well as an estimated 233 million interviews.
Should there be another season for “Squid Game”?
Netflix did not officially announce the second season. The series, starring Lee Jung-jae in the role of Seong Gi-hun and others in the cast, focuses on people who are so greedy for money that they agree to take part in a school drama series with a dangerous twist as how they risk their lives.
The show brings out a very unique plot and storyline, the actors have given their best to portray the roles they were given. The recognition the show received was very well deserved, and so a second season is very much needed.
