SQUID GAME’S ON YOUNG SOO TALKS ABOUT THE SHOW
After making a name for himself in the world with his memorable performance as Oh Il Nam in “Squid Game,” the veteran actor appeared on MBC’s October 16 episode “How You Play?” for an exclusive interview with Yoo Jae Suk and Lovejoz’s Mijoo. Although he rose to prominence in the blink of an eye, Oh Young Soo is still sitting on the ground next month following the release of a hotly contested game. The actor is notorious for rejecting all commercial offers he has received so far, including the promise of a fried chicken commercial.
Explaining his reaction to the worldwide ‘Squid Game syndrome’. ” I feel like I’m floating in the air,” he said, “There have been a lot of people contacting me [since the release of the ‘Squid Game’], and because I don’t have a manager to help me, it’s hard for me to manage the volume of calls and messages I’ve been receiving. So my daughter has been helping me.”
SQUID GAME’S DALGONA TASK
Oh Young Soo added, “Now that I’ve suddenly gone upstairs, some of my classmates have been calling me, like Park Jung Ja and a few others.” When asked what Park Jung Ja said to him, he replied with a laugh, “[He asked,] ‘What does it feel like to be a star of the world?’”
As for how the “Squid Game” affected his daily life, Oh Young Soo commented, “Things have changed a bit. Even if I go out to a cafe or somewhere like that, now I have to know [how I look to others]. It made me think, ‘ Thunder is also difficult.’”
In a recent interview, Lee Jung Jae praised Oh Young Soo as a “great character with a youthful mind,” but the veteran actor politely replied, “I was the only adult character [in the ‘Squid Game’], and all the other young actors. for their part, I exaggerated myself and made myself new to their power. ”
Mijoo asked if the Squid Game players had played a Dalgona game between them during the take, Oh Young Soo replied, “There are some actors who have done that. While filming the play, it was as if all the characters were going back to their childhood. We had fun playing like grown children. It was an exciting time. ”
Later, Yoo Jae Suk asked Oh Young Soo to share his thoughts on how he believes life should live.
The actor responded, “Our society tends to accept only the first place as if everyone is not important. It seems that there is only the first place, and the second place means nothing. But even if the second place was won in the first place, the second place also beat the third place. So everyone is actually a winner. That’s why I think a truly successful person is someone who works hard at the things they want to do and tries to reach a certain level internally. I feel like that person is a winner. ”
“I have no ambitions,” he continued. “Big or small, I have discovered many things in my life. Now, I want to leave behind those things that I found. To put it simply, you are going to a mountain to see a flower. When we are little, we pick a flower and pick it up for ourselves. But when you get to my age, you leave it there as it is, and then you go back and see it again later. It’s the same with life. Leaving things as they are. It’s not easy. ”
