The Immortal Ashwatthama is a Hindi movie starring Vicky Kaushal in prominent role. It is a drama directed by Aditya Dhar. The high-profile film whose posters released earlier this year have captured the imagination of fans as it boasts to be one-of-a-kind sci-fi film laced with mythology.
Vicky Kaushal’s role in the movie
In The Immortal Ashwatthama, Vicky Kaushal will play a character inspired by the warrior Ashwatthama, who played a crucial role in the war between Pandavas and Kauravas in Mahabharata. The movie reunites the actor with his URI: The Surgical Strike director Aditya Dhar and producer Ronnie Screwvala.
It is an action-based superhero film set in modern times, the makers recently unveiled its first poster which was received with encouraging response on social media. “Raising the bar higher for the superhero genre not only in India but across the world, this film is a high-concept visual spectacle in the making,” Dhar wrote on Twitter and also posted on his Instagram account.
The first look, unveiled by Ronnie Screwvala’s production house RSVP, shows a futuristic setting with multiple skyscrapers in the background and Vicky Kaushal’s Ashwatthama holding a lightning sword.

The Immortal Ashwatthama is a homecoming for Vicky Kaushal as besides Aditya Dhar, the actor returns to RSVP two years after URI: The Surgical Strike. The makers said URI’s second anniversary was the perfect opportunity to unveil the first look of The Immortal Ashwatthama.
Calling The Immortal Ashwatthama the biggest film of his career yet, Vicky Kaushal said it’s going to be an exhilarating experience for him to explore technology alongside his craft.
“Ashwatthama is Aditya’s dream project and it required the backing of a visionary like Ronnie to bring this spectacle to audiences. It’s going to be a new space for me as an actor, exploring the newest form of technology alongside acting. Can’t wait to start the journey soon with this wonderful team,” Vicky said.
Aditya Dhar, who is both the writer and director on the project, said he will approach The Immortal Ashwatthama in a responsible manner as it’s a retelling of an epic story.
“We are working hard to create a visual spectacle that audiences across India would have never seen before. I promise this would not just be a film, but an experience. More than the pressure, I am taking this film as a responsibility of telling this epic story, in the way it is meant to be told. I hope audiences shower the same love to Ashwatthama as they did to URI,” Aditya said in a statement.
Movie’s release and the shoot location details
The Immortal Ashwatthama will roll on the floors in June this year. “The film is scheduled to be shot between June 2021 and December 2021. Earlier the makers had plans to film in the UK, but owing to the present COVID-19 situation they are now looking at Hungary and Iceland. Aditya and his team will head for a recce in April depending on the situation in these countries,” says the source.
However, the prep for the film has already begun. The informer further adds that Vicky is already sweating it out in the gym to acquire the look required for the film and will start his weapon training from mid-February. “He will be training in archery, sword-fighting, spear-fighting and martial arts. Besides Ashwatthama, the film will also feature a couple of more characters from Mahabharata, casting for which is presently underway.”
Vicky is currently busy with Vijay Krishna Acharya’s next with Manushi Chhillar. He will also be seen in Shoojit Sircar’s Sardar Udham. On the other hand, Sara will be seen in Aanand L Rai’s next, Atrangi Re.
