Harry Potter star, Tom Felton, has been rewatching “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” with fans via Instagram Live. While watching the movie with fans on Livestream, Felton shared some fun facts and behind-the-scenes of the film, and also shared that his grandfather had a cameo in the first Harry Potter movie.
When the scene of the Quidditch match came on, Felton, who plays the role of Draco Malfoy in the movies, enthusiastically mentioned that the Hogwarts professor seated next to game commentator Lee Jordan (Luke Youngblood) is actually his grandfather, Nigel Anstey.
“There’s my grandpa again,” Felton said, “The guy with the beard. Whitebeard! Huge beard right next to Lee Jordan. And there’s me again It’s a family thing, mental! Mental!”

“That’s my gramps!” he shouted during the scene in the Great Hall, where Professor Quirrell announces there’s a troll in the dungeon, and Anstey is seen seated at the faculty table.
Felton’s grandfather appeared briefly at the faculty table in the scene where the first-year Hogwarts students, including Harry, Hermione, Ron, and Malfoy, enter the Great Hall for the first time.
Back in 2011, Felton had talked about how his grandfather helped him master his iconic Draco Malfoy snarl. “My grandfather did help me a bit with that, learning how to do it,” he said. “It’s sort of the signature Draco expression and Grands had me practice a lot.”
Felton’s maternal grandfather, Anstey, had a nonspeaking role in the first film as an unnamed Hogwarts professor. In real life, Nigel Anstey is a British researcher and a geophysicist.
