Twitter tries to figure out what Elon Musk’s new profile picture means. Here’s what fans think:

Elon Musk
Elon Musk always seems to stir the internet with his activities on Twitter, whether it’s a random tweet, a meme, or making stocks of different companies reach heights with a single word. Now, he has made everyone curious on what his new profile picture and bio can mean. He recently updated his display picture to that of a fork in a road, and changed his bio to ‘metaphork’

Metaphorically, a fork in the road represents a deciding moment in life, that could have life-altering consequences.

Earlier this month, Elon Musk’s Tesla purchased $1.5 billion worth bitcoins, and some netizens believe that his profile picture is related to this crypto currency. After Musk invested in bitcoin, it hit an all time high, $43,000, and some later peaked again at $50,000. Many agreed that the fork may be referring to cryptocurrency, more specifically it could predict a Bitcoin ‘hard fork’.

“Hard fork” refers to a big change to the blockchain network, known as forking, that results in two branches. One branch follows the previous protocol of the network, while the other follows a new version. Bitcoin has seen several hard forks in its history this far.

Here’s what the people of Twitter have been speculating:

While most people guessed that it’s related to the cryptocurrency world, others think that the metaphor is completely unrelated to work and more about Musk’s personal life.

‘I think Elon is in the middle of some big personal decisions. He has a newborn, likely conscious of the fact his previous marriages have failed. I’d be gutted if he stepped down but maybe that’s what he’s contemplating, and frankly, he deserves a break and some peace,’ one user said, referring to his role as the CEO of Tesla.

Before changing his profile picture to this ‘fork in a road’ Musk had also hopped on the trend and updated his Twitter display pic to that of an anime woman with glowing red eyes and Bitcoin in the background. The trend was followed by those who support and favour the crypto market.
