Disney and Pixar are set to release quite a few flicks this year, some of which are live-action animations. The release dates are still in flux for some of the movies. Walt Disney Studios has had to update their motion picture release schedule, as a way of compensating for COVID-19 delays as well as their slate of newly-revealed films.
Below, you’ll find some of the Disney produced movies that have locked release dates. These dates might change in the future, but here’s our somewhat helpful guide to the upcoming Disney and Pixar movies.
FLORA AND ULYSSES
Release date: February 19, 2021
Director: Lena Khan
Starring: Matilda Lawler, Alyson Hannigan, Ben Schwartz, Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, Danny Pudi
This is a feature adaptation of Kate DiCamillo’s children’s novel. It is exclusive to Disney+. The movie talks about a girl who adopts a squirrel who possesses supernatural powers.

RAYA AND THE LAST DRAGON

STARRING: Awkwafina, Cassie Steele

Disney released a teaser for this movie and just by the teaser, fans were left dumbfounded by the hyper-realistic visuals. The film will be released in theaters and — for subscribers who are willing to pay extra for what is called “Premier Access” — on Disney+.
LUCA

Encanto translates to “charm”, the movie is about a young Brazillian girl, who is the only one in her family to not have magical powers.

JUNGLE CRUISE

CAST: Dwayne Johnson (Frank), Emily Blunt (Lily Houghton)

The movie is a thrilling adventure down the Amazon but on a ramshackle boat.
DISENCHANTED
Amy Adams is back as Giselle in a Disney plus a sequel to Enchanted. There is no word yet on the plot, cast, or even a director.

There are some untitled movies releasing later this year and at the beginning of 2022. One project that is routinely in the news these days is a Disney live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid.
