ESPL, or ESports Premiere League is a franchise-based nationwide eSports tournament, also the first-of-its-kind Free Fire tournament. It comprises of more than 700 online matches with more than 300 hours of gaming content. The tournament this year has a massive prize pool of Rs 25,00,000 distributed among the top 8 teams of the ESPL 2021 grand finals. These cities include Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Punjab, Bangalore, and Rajasthan. The prize pool will be distributed after the finals, which is scheduled to be held on August 29th, 2021.
Who is organising ESPL 2021?
The first-of-its-kind nationwide tournament is being organised by India Today Gaming.
The tournament is divided into four phases. Teams in phase 1 will take part in the open qualifier where 88 teams will qualify for the next round. Phase 2 will be played between the 88 qualified teams and and additional 8 invited teams. Top 8 teams will qualify for the grand finale after competing in phase 3.
Format-wise, ESPL will revolve around “Versus”, “Best of 5”, and “Best of 8” to select the top-performing teams.
This year’s ESPL tournament has a massive prize pool, which is as follows:
1st place – Rs 12,00,000
2nd place – Rs 6,00,000
3rd place – Rs 3,00,000
4th place – Rs 1,25,000
5th place – Rs 1,00,000
6th place – Rs 50,000
7th place – Rs 35,000
8th place – Rs 30,000
Awards such as ‘Most Valuable Player’ and ‘Fan Favourite Player’ are also there for individual performing players.
