Ben and Erin Napier’s Tv Show: Home Town
After being featured in Southern Weddings magazine, Ben (36) and Erin (34) were contacted by HGTV, where they were offered to host Home Town. In this TV Show, we see the couple renovate houses in the historic district of Laurel, Mississippi. The show premiered in January 2016 and has been highly rated in the first three of the show’s aired seasons.
The series follows husband and wife team Ben and Erin Napier, as they welcome newcomers to their beloved town of Laurel, Mississippi, and help them find and renovate old homes.
“It’s pretty unexpected. This was not something that we thought about or dreamed of,” says Ben. “This is all sort of a happy accident,” Erin, adds.
The fifth season of Home Town (sixteen episodes) began airing on January 3, 2021. On January 4, a spin-off titled Home Town: Ben’s Workshop premiered on Discovery+, and on May 2, 2021, a spin-off titled Home Town Takeover premiered.
Ben and Erin: World’s Greatest Leaders
Ben and Erin’s home value
Ben and Erin’s work in their small town led to the value of the houses in Laurel skyrocketing. In May 2011, the average home value in Laurel sat at roughly $82,127, while today, it has risen to $100,385. Since the reason for this huge improvement were Ben and Erin, they got their names listed in World’s 50 Greatest Leaders of 2021.
“Every person on earth has a history. And that’s what home is. It doesn’t matter what the whole world thinks about your home; it matters that your home is the place that’s the most personal and the most welcoming place on earth to you.”, Erin said to Fortune
Living in a small, tight-knit community makes them especially mindful about the way they approach home renovations. “With everybody who we do a house for, there’s a 90% chance we’re going to have an ongoing relationship with them because Laurel is such a small town,” Ben says.
After they signed on with HGTV, in 2016 they made plans with two other couples, Chip and Joanna Gaines to reopen the Laurel Mercantile Co., which operated from 1901 to the 1930s.
