Why did Daft Punk split after almost three decades?

Electronic music stars and Grammy winning duo, Daft Punk have split up, their publicist confirmed on Monday. The duo first broke the news in a typically-enigmatic video, titled Epilogue.

The clip begins with the duo, who have concealed their identities behind big helmets, walking around a desert with the similar headgears and leather jackets with Daft Punk printed on them. Towards the end one of them removes his jacket and shows an energy pack on his back. The other member hesitatingly opens the pack and switches on a button.

The one without the jacket starts moving away and soon it self destructs. The remaining artist then walks away slowly as the group’s song “Touch” plays in the background, followed by a cutaway reading “1993-2021”.

Why did Daft Punk Disbanded?

Their publicist, Kathryn Frazier, confirmed the news to AFP by email, without giving any reason for the split.
