The official Twitter account of one of the most famous TV Shows, Game of Thrones, has just posted one of their main taglines, “Winter if Coming”, and it was enough to hint that there might be new GoT related content that HBO will be releasing.
Game of Thrones’ prequel series: House of the Dragon
HBO has an upcoming Game of Thrones’ prequel series, House of the Dragon, that will be exploring that history of the brutal Targaryen civil war that tore the realm apart over 100 years before the events of the story we know. We will be introduced to a whole new set of characters, many of them Targaryens.
There’s Rhaenyra Targaryen and Aegon II Targaryen, half-siblings who fight for the Iron Throne. There’s the unpredictable Daemon Targaryen, who fights his nephew Aemond Targaryen on dragonback in one of the war’s most exciting episodes. There’s Rhaenys Targaryen, who the smallfolk called the Queen Who Never Was, and so on.
The story will take place 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones.
Show-runners of House of the Dragon

Martin and Ryan Condal (Colony, Hercules) will serve as co-creators on the series. Miguel Sapochnik and Condal will be showrunners, and the pair will also serve as executive producers along with Martin, Vince Gerardis, Sara Lee Hess and Ron Schmidt.
Sapochnik, whose directing credits include six Game of Thrones episodes, won Emmy and DGA honors for “Battle of the Bastards.” He was nominated for another Emmy in 2019 for directing “The Long Night” and won the Emmy for Best Drama Series as an executive producer for the final season.
Clare Kilner (The Alienist: Angel of Darkness, The Wedding Date) and Geeta V. Patel (Meet the Patels, The Witcher) will also direct the series. Greg Yaitanes (Banshee, House) is director and co-executive producer.
Game of Thrones and Westworld composer Ramin Djawadi will score the series.
When will House of the Dragon be released
There has been no confirmed date for the series yet. However, with the recent posts and content that we have been getting from HBO, our guess is that the release date will be confirmed soon enough.
Game of Thrones Season Eight debacle
Game of Thrones can very easily be called one of the most iconic and amazing shows in history. Over the course of eight seasons, GoT gathered millions of fans around the world. It had the best cast, storyline, screenplay, writing and direction. However, it just made one huge mistake: It’s final season.
As the most awaited final season was released, it surprisingly disappointed a majority of it’s fans, as the storyline took a turn that it should not have. Various petitions from fans were released, demanding the remake of the eighth season, as everyone hated how such an iconic show was ruined at the very end. So now, even after news of new content from GoT, fans are still upset over the final season, and talk about how they would rather prefer to have a remake of season eight rather than get a spinoff or prequel.
