One of the calmest and coolest ex-cricketer of the Indian Cricket team, Rahul Dravid, has gone viral for being the ‘Gunda’ of the Indiranagar in a hilarious advertisement.
On the day of the Indian Premier League opener, an advertisement for the 2021 season was released in which we see the former Indian Captain in a completely different persona which made the fans go crazy.

In the advertisement for a credit card payment app, we first see actor Jim Sarbh talking about CRED, and saying getting cash backs and rewards is as impossible as Rahul Dravid having ‘anger issues’. The commercial then cuts to a frustrated Rahul Dravid stuck in the traffic jam somewhere in Bengaluru, as he loses it completely, throwing coffee cups at other drivers’ car windows, banging on his steering wheel, and even taking a cricket bat to destroy the side-view mirrors of vehicles next to him. He then hilariously comes out of the roof-top window and yells, “Indiranagar ka gunda hoon main!” (I am the don of Indiranagar), as everyone on the street stares at him.
This commercial was written by popular standup comedian Tanmay Bhat, along with Devaiah Bopanna, Puneet Chadha, Nupur Pai, and Vishal Dayama. Ayappa KM, founder, Early Man Film directed it.
Reactions to Rahul Dravid’s Gunda avatar
Dravid soon went viral after the release of the advertisement, and got various hilarious reactions, specially after the current captain of the Indian cricket team, Virat Kohli made a tweet on the commercial. Even T Natarajan made a comment.
“Never seen this side of Rahul bhai,” Kohli commented on the ad.
“Rahul sir. Somebody gonna get hurt real bad,” Natarajan tweeted.
Virat Kohli has previously played under Dravid’s captaincy at Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Famous Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone is not one to stay away from the meme culture, as she also decided to take to her Instagram profile to post a childhood picture of hers and captioned it, “Indiranagar ki gundi hoon main!” She also revealed that the picture was clicked by “Mama Padukone” aka Ujjala Padukone.
The commercial even got hilarious reactions from other brands such as Zomato, PharmEasy, and CARS24 India, who made tweets joking about the ad.
Zomato joked, “Deliveries in Indiranagar might be late today due to an angry gunda on the road”, while CARS24 India wrote, “Reports coming in from Indiranagar that a Gunda is breaking cars, if this Gunda has damaged your car too, we are offering free upgardes.”

Of course, this was the perfect commercial for memes. Fans loved to see a cool and calm Dravid act like he had anger issues, and took to Twitter to share memes on the same.
